Seed Library, Kale

It’s a rainy and chilly day around here after a few days of beautiful gardening weather. The plants that were enjoying the spring had to be covered.

From the loom, this is Kale for the series, Seed Library. The studio wall is beginning to fill with woven “seed packets”.

A few years ago, I bought this art pack of kale seeds from @hudsonvalleyseedco

The seeds are small, but the plant is now huge. It loves this cooler weather and survived both the summer and the winter.

The taste is the most delicious and sweet kale I’ve ever grown. And the combination of purples and greens is pretty great. Love its expressive leaves and curls.

The textiles continue to “grow” off the wall as I explore different types of yarn. This one is made of a combination of cotton and wool yarn.
