Your Essence

The snow was beautiful last week, until I had to push a stroller with a 20-pound boy around Brooklyn. I don’t need to use the rowing machine at the gym for a while…  Today there is snow falling again! I can’t wait to see those colorful flowers glowing around the tree trunks.
The last couple [...]

If You Look…

…you can find beauty in everything.
Lately, the weather has been warmer than usual — perfect to run outside. Last Sunday morning was a beautiful and sunny fall morning. I managed to run five miles and felt I could keep going. I enjoyed the longer run, but now that the weather is changing again, I’m looking [...]

Flux

I’ve been active thinking of new projects, designing a new website/blog, and beginning to take my running and yoga practice to the next level.
My mind and body were ready for a little stir up so last week I found myself running at lunch time in Tangled Alphabets: León Ferrari and Mira Schendel at Ernesto [...]

Effort

Yoga class begins by dedicating the practice to someone or something. Dedicating the class gives me an incredible feeling of purpose. I began to practice yoga after reading of its benefits for runners, but it didn’t take me long to realize that practicing yoga is about something deeper than flexibility.
I want to dedicate my [...]

In Full Bloom

This week, I went to my yoga class for the first time after giving birth. It felt great to be back. While in triangle pose, I thought of how important is to find time to do what moves us and makes us flourish. The best is when we slowly notice that the bloom inside of [...]

Echo

Findings of the week:
“Don’t expect anything original from an echo”. -Author Unknown
“I made a pact with myself many years ago that though it would be nice to be able to support myself with my art, (money) wouldn’t be the compelling factor for creating it. Part of being an artist is [...]

365 vs. 1

I love the holidays, but as a minimalist at heart, I strongly believe in finding gratefulness in our everyday and not only during the holidays. I prefer a nice small gesture everyday ⎯ a smile, saying good morning, staying positive during a difficult day, a nice conversation, cooking and sharing a meal ⎯ over [...]

Solid Core

In honor of Earth Day and the Boston Marathon, I decided to go for a run in one of the most beautiful places in Brooklyn, Frederick Law Olmsted and Central Park. While enjoying the awesome energy of all the runners, I noticed a family walking in the park. The father and daughter were holding hands. [...]

Beautifully Warm

The holiday season is the time when I enjoy my family and reconnect with nature at home in Puerto Rico. I can’t describe the feeling of seeing an intense blue ocean while running to the beach in the morning. Running home uphill is SERIOUSLY breathtaking!
While we were at the beach a couple of afternoons ago, [...]

Your Heart Makes Me Feel

The day was just awakening when I ran this morning and passed the Brooklyn Promenade. The sunlight reflected on the water, the buildings in Lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty. What a beautiful day, this is such a magical place!
I recently read the Brooklyn Rail’s Tribute to Elizabeth Murray (1940–2007). It was so nice to [...]
