I hope you all survived last week. So many openings, so many people. I couldn’t really look at the work during the openings. I will go back to the galleries to take a closer look very soon. My head is still spinning – and it doesn’t look like it is going to stop spinning this month!

I can’t believe all this is happening, but I am participating in the exhibition, All is well that begins well and has no end on view at NYU’s 80WSE Galleries. The exhibition “hopes to create a dialogue about abstraction today by being presented alongside the exhibition, The Geometry of Hope: Latin American Abstract Art from the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, on view at NYU’s Grey Art Gallery from September 12 to December 8″. I am excited to be part of this exhibition. I am also happy to have the opportunity to invite all my NYU friends and colleagues to be part of the work.

For the exhibition, I created Capturing Minds, a performance and installation in one of the gallery windows. In Capturing Minds, I invite viewers to participate by selecting color balloons of their preference and blow them up as much as they want. I like to compare it to the experience of making a wish and throwing a coin in a fountain.

If you are around Washington Square Park, please feel free to stop by the gallery and add a balloon (wish) to the installation. If you have kids, please bring them to enjoy the experience. I absolutely love to see kids responding to my work. I believe they are honest art critics. If they don’t like a work, they simply don’t respond to it. And I hope all your wishes come true!
